China's domestic medical device companies have made tremendous progress in various aspects in recent years. The industry generally believes that the peak of the development of the medical device industry is coming.
The annual Chinese Orthopaedic Association (COA) was held at the National Convention Center on November 21st. About 20,000 orthopaedic surgeons from all over the country attended the conference. Hundreds of doctors from all over the world were also attracted by the event. I have come to observe the exchanges. With the frequent emergence of domestic policies for medical devices, the international visibility of COA is also increasing . Chinese local companies have made tremendous progress in various aspects in recent years. The industry generally believes that the peak of the development of the medical device industry is coming. However, the phenomenon of prosperity in China's orthopaedic industry cannot hide the reality that domestic enterprises' products are still in the stage of “imitation”, and there is still a huge gap between product research and development and international brands. Innovation also faces many challenges. This phenomenon has aroused widespread concern and worries in the industry. For this reason, on November 22 , Zhejiang Kehui Medical Devices Co., Ltd. organized a seminar on the theme of “Technology Innovation in Medical Devices under the New Situation”, attracting A large number of orthopaedic surgeons and industry innovators participated.
In recent years, the medical device industry has become an important starting point for the developed countries to upgrade the biomedical industry and high-end equipment manufacturing. Data show that in 2012, the global medical device output value has exceeded 400 billion US dollars, accounting for 42% of the pharmaceutical market. The output value of medical devices in developed countries reached 1:1. In the same period, there were 69,975 medical device product registration certificates in the country. Medical devices account for about 14% of the overall size of the medical industry. In 2013, China's medical equipment trade totaled US$34.31 billion, up 14.13% year-on-year, and import value was US$14.975 billion, up 20.07% year-on-year; there were 12,123 import enterprises, of which domestic enterprises imported US$8.92 billion, accounting for 59.66%. The export value was US$19.335 billion, an increase of 9.92% year-on-year; there were 19,786 export enterprises, of which domestic enterprises exported US$9.712 billion, accounting for 50.4%.
Dr. Jiang Feng, Chairman of China Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance, pointed out that despite the rapid progress in the development of medical devices in China, there is a huge gap in the construction of sustainable technological innovation capabilities with industrial strategic heights, mainly due to low innovation ability and low and medium There are many end products, many imitation and improvement products, and there are almost no original products. The total investment in R&D in China's pharmaceutical industry accounts for 1%-2% (3% for medical devices), and the average level for developed countries is 15%-18% (Medical With more than 15% of devices, this means that we have a lot of potential to innovate in technologies with independent intellectual property rights. Jiang Feng said that more medical frontline and industry-related personnel should be mobilized and encouraged to participate in the innovation of medical devices.
Professor Jiang Baoguo, deputy director of the Peking University School of Medicine, has been engaged in orthopedic clinical and scientific research for more than 20 years. He has experienced the development of the domestic orthopaedic industry. He compared the differences in research and development between orthopaedic medical devices at home and abroad from the perspective of medical device users. In terms of policy, it is necessary to clarify the role and status of doctors in occupational inventions, and reduce unnecessary declaration procedures to speed up the path from clinical first-line research and development to industrialization. He sincerely hopes that domestic enterprises can improve the level of R&D as soon as possible, so that Chinese doctors have the opportunity to use more medical device products that are designed by Chinese doctors and conform to the characteristics of Chinese people.
The continuous improvement of research and development level determines the sustainable development of the medical device industry, and is also crucial to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Fang Ming, chairman of Zhejiang Kehui Medical Devices Co., Ltd. stressed that the coordination and integration of industry resources is needed in the innovation of medical devices. This requires the country's tilt and support in macroeconomic policies, as well as the participation of all parties at the micro level. Persevere and work hard. Fang Ming told the Science and Technology Daily reporter that this year the country introduced and implemented a new "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices". Not long ago, the State Council issued "Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of Health Service Industry", clearly supporting innovative drugs and medical devices. The development and industrialization of new biomedical materials, the medical device industry is welcoming the opportunity of development. Kehui Medical takes "technology as health service" as its tenet, insists on independent research and development for a long time, pays attention to technology accumulation, and will continue to leverage national policies, increase investment in science and technology, and cooperate with orthopedic clinicians to develop more independent knowledge. The "China created" product of property rights.
